Day dedicated to the gathering of mushrooms in the Tuscan Emilian Appenines, more specifically on the territory of Borgotaro, worldwide renowned for the high quality of its boletus mushrooms. Since 1993 the mushrooms of the Taro valley obtained the GPI (Protected Geographical Status) which contributed to the increase of importance and notoriety of the local boletus. This made it necessary to undertake action in order to protect the territory, with the focus on a correct collection of the mushrooms and a respect of the undergrowth areas. In autumn, between the months of September and October, the famous Borgotaro mushroom festival is organized during which the local restaurants offer excellent theme menus.
The footpaths map indicates ten different routes. Once you have chosen which route to follow, you will receive your Mushroom-pack in the hotel, including:
- the badge authorizing the mushroom hunting,
- the road map,
- the lunch packet, prepared by our restaurant.
The trekking fans can discover the valley by following the route of the antique roads.
